KÉO ĐỂ XEM THÊM

Bánh mì xíu mại

Bánh mì xíu mại is a quintessential Da Lat dish, deeply influenced by Chinese culinary heritage. It is a simple yet flavorful meal featuring savory pork meatballs (xíu mại) served in a rich, slightly fatty broth. To enjoy it, diners dip pieces of crispy baguette into the steaming broth, savoring the fragrant and hearty flavors. This dish is not only a staple in Da Lat but is also popular in other parts of the province like Bao Loc, serving as a familiar breakfast for both locals and tourists alike.

Bánh Tráng Nướng (Grilled Rice Paper)

Bánh Tráng Nướng (Grilled Rice Paper) often dubbed as the "Vietnamese Pizza," Da Lat’s grilled rice paper is a legendary evening street food. You can easily find vendors selling this treat around Xuan Huong Lake or the bustling Da Lat Night Market. The main ingredients—including rice paper, eggs, green onions, and dried shrimp—create a perfectly crispy and fragrant combination. As it grills over charcoal, the vendor adds a touch of chili sauce and rolls it up neatly for you to enjoy hot on the spot. Though simple, this dish has captured the hearts of countless food lovers.

Bánh Ướt Lòng Gà (Steamed Rice Crepes with Chicken Gut)

This is one of the most unique dishes that you simply cannot miss when visiting Lam Dong. Unlike the typical version served with Vietnamese sausage (chả), the steamed rice crepes here are paired with chicken organs and shredded chicken, creating a novel and enticing flavor. The crepes are made from a blend of rice flour, a touch of tapioca starch, and cassava flour to achieve the perfect balance of softness and chewiness. After being thinly and evenly steamed, they are served with savory, well-marinated chicken heart, liver, and gizzard. Specifically, locals use "free-range chicken" (gà ta), ensuring the meat remains naturally sweet and firm rather than mushy.

Nem Nướng Đà Lạt (Grilled Pork Skewers)

Da Lat's Nem Nướng stands out not only for its rich, smoky flavor but also for its vibrant combination of fresh ingredients. The skewers are made from finely ground fresh pork, seasoned and grilled over glowing charcoal until they release an irresistible aroma. When eating, you wrap the grilled pork in thin rice paper along with fresh herbs and sweet-and-sour pickled vegetables, creating a perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, and refreshing notes. The highlight of the dish is the signature dipping sauce, made from fragrant glutinous rice and cooked to a smooth, velvety consistency. This rich yet light sauce is the secret that sets the dish apart, leaving a lasting impression on anyone who tries it.

Bánh Căn (Mini Savory Pancakes)

Bánh Căn is a famous street food that is easy to find throughout Da Lat. Made from rice flour and eggs, these mini pancakes feature a crispy golden exterior and a soft, fluffy center. While often confused with Bánh Khọt, Da Lat’s Bánh Căn is distinct in its preparation and ingredients. The batter is poured into small clay molds and grilled until perfectly golden, taking on a vibrant color from the eggs. To enjoy them, the pancakes are typically dipped in a bowl of scallion oil and sweet-and-sour fish sauce (or sometimes a savory meatball broth), bringing out a unique harmony of flavors.

Bánh Bèo (Water Fern Cakes)

Bánh Bèo in Da Lat possesses its own unique character compared to the traditional Hue version. These dainty, small rice cakes are topped with a savory minced pork sauce, combined with crispy fish maw, crunchy pork rinds, or fried bread cubes. It is precisely these distinct toppings that create the signature flavor of Da Lat’s Bánh Bèo, offering a novel culinary experience for visitors. The smooth, velvety texture of the rice cake, when paired with the savory meat filling and crunchy toppings, creates a delightful and unforgettable harmony in every bite.

Bánh Canh (Thick Noodle Soup)

Bánh Canh in Da Lat has its own distinct character, featuring chewy noodles with a naturally off-white, translucent appearance. The broth has a subtle reddish hue, a slightly thick consistency, and a wonderful aroma thanks to a unique blend of local spices. A complete bowl typically includes tender lean pork, a hearty pork trotter, and chewy, savory fish cakes, creating a rich and cozy flavor profile. It is the ideal dish to savor amidst the chilly atmosphere of Da Lat.

Canh Hoa Atiso Hầm Giò Heo (Artichoke Soup with Pork Knuckle)

Artichoke soup with pork knuckle is a famous specialty that can arguably only be fully appreciated in Da Lat. This dish is not only delicious but also highly nutritious, featuring fresh artichoke hearts slow-cooked until tender alongside rich, succulent pork knuckles. The artichoke provides a refreshing, slightly sweet aftertaste that balances the richness of the pork, creating a superb soup that can win over even the most discerning palates. More than just a meal, this dish offers a way to truly experience the culture and natural bounty of the Highlands.

Phá Lấu Bảo Lộc(Offal Stew)

Phá lấu, a dish with roots in Chinese cuisine, has been creatively adapted by the people of Bao Loc to suit local tastes. The dish is made from various parts—such as ears, tongue, intestines, and stomach—of pork, beef, or duck, offering a diverse range of textures and flavors. In the region, phá lấu is prepared in many styles: from the traditional version with a rich, savory broth served with crispy baguettes, to stir-fried versions with sweet-and-sour tamarind or a creamy, decadent salted egg yolk sauce. Regardless of the variation, the phá lấu here maintains a distinctive character that captivates every diner.

Phở Khô (Dry Pho)

Phở Khô (Dry Pho) is a unique dish, unlike any traditional Pho you have tried before. Instead of the typical soft flat rice noodles, this dish uses a chewier type of noodle similar to hủ tiếu. The noodles are served separately from the broth and are tossed with tender, sweet beef, fresh herbs, and a signature savory sauce, creating a harmonious blend of colors and flavors. The rich sauce coats every strand of the noodles, enhancing the savory taste and making the meal truly irresistible and memorable.

Lẩu Bò (Beef Hotpot)

Lẩu bò has gradually become a must-try specialty whenever you visit Da Lat. The highlight of the dish is its uniquely flavored broth, slow-cooked from beef bones to create a naturally sweet and fragrant taste. It is served with a variety of toppings such as tendons, tail, brisket, and rare beef, along with fresh local vegetables and flat rice noodles. The true signature of Da Lat's beef hotpot is the distinctive fermented bean curd (chao) dipping sauce, which adds a fascinating layer of flavor, making the meal even more delicious and appetizing.

Lẩu Gà Lá É (Chicken Hotpot with Lemon Basil)

Alongside beef hotpot, Lẩu gà lá é is another Da Lat specialty that visitors should not miss. The hotpot here features a rich broth simmered from chicken bones, offering a gentle aroma perfectly blended with the refreshing, slightly tart sweetness of lemon basil leaves (lá é). The toppings include tender chicken, bamboo shoots, and mushrooms, creating a perfect flavor profile that is hard to find anywhere else. This dish is especially famous for its ability to warm you up in the chilly highland air.
